ambivalent & michael l penman debut on ovum with *shimmer*. having found a very fruitful collaborative friendship, michael l penman and ambivalent (aka kevin mchugh) have begun exploring the intersection of their approaches to music-making. they originally connected when kevin discovered michaels music in 2010. after playing many of his productions in his dj sets and including them in a mix-cd (_ground) release for minus, kevin made contact and the pair began exchanging files and swapping ideas. this led to time in the studio together and yet more file exchanges. quickly a natural creative balance emerged as they found that their production techniques were complementary as is their shared love of groove, bass and musicality. for their ovum debut the duo have delivered a trio of tracks that have those three elements at their core. title track shimmer brings together raw jackin funk with a warm driving bassline and scything techy stabs whilst chevalier matches its fun bouncy groove with an infectious and spritely melody. final track memogram comes heavy with the oldskool, delivering a bed of beats and samples beneath the very heaviest of acid-kicks. not for the feint of heart!

der aus baltimore stammende künstler michael collins, der sich bisher vor allem mit seinem indie-psych projekt run dmt in fachkreisen einen namen gemacht hat, kehrt als salvia plath mit einem neuen album auf domino zurück! in den letzten drei jahren wohnte er in diversen us-amerikanischen städten und nahm in dieser zeit sein wunderschönes neues album *the bardo story* auf. dieses neue schaffenswerk ist eine interessante mischung aus psych-pop, folk und ambient mit anlehnungen an monty phyton, dukes of stratosphere und der magical mystery tour. der vinyl-lp liegt ein downloadcode bei.

with the track *time machine*, dj and producer michael nielebock provided us with a fantastic debut on our deep circus label. his first success came for the berlin resident with the track pure visionson the treibstoff label, which entered the charts and the record cases of many international djs. his productions all are characterized by a driving groove, mixed with spherical elements, strings and synth-sounds. with *time machine* he also managed to bring this mixture to perfection in cooperation with his studio buddy leevey, thus creating a track which will make the day and caress the ears of many outdoor dancers this summer.
the second track on the ep is a wonderful remix by burak sar aka sis, who recently released his second album *confidance* on his label cocolino. the sis remix stays close to the original track, but reduces the spherical sounds and puts a greater focus on the basses, resulting in a great piece with a lot of deepness. nice!

for the fifth release on roots for bloom, michael james delivers 3 bumping cuts of very much dance floor orientated music. the opener infinite state gets you moving straight from the off with some edgy stabs and serious groove. high roller carries on where the a1 lets off upping the tempo but maintaining the direction. the b side freeze is a more techno influenced track, but still hold that underlying groove.

the best is yet to come is the title of the newest release by schallbox records and also stands for the claim of the basel based recording label to continually evolve and develop itself further, thereby upping the ante with each new release.
schallbox014 is a deep and ever grooving track made by berlins michael nielebock and leevey that will definitely see the openair season prolonged until the end of the year. additionally, larsson delivers a dubby remix featuring an electrifying beat and broad synth sounds. schallbox even resurrects some golden memories of legendary bar25 - courtesy of sasch cawa and dirty doerings remix which is furthermore gratifying the vinyl package. last but not least the release is completed by the contribution of newcomer benotmane from basel, who converts the original into a dreamy sunrise tune.
